For a student to participate in a KMEA All-State ensemble, the sponsoring teacher must be a member of KMEA.
The Middle Level choir is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students who are enrolled in their school choral program. Dual auditions will not be permitted (i.e. submitting the same singer to both the KCDA Treble Choir AND the KMEA Middle Level Choir); thereby reducing lag time in notifying singers and decreasing the amount of coordination required between the two organizations.
Record the audition literature posted on the KMEA website. The recording format used for auditions will be determined by the audition manager system. The required literature will be posted by May 1st during the year of auditions. The All-State Middle Level Choir audition process will be handled online using mp3 recorded auditions.
Audition recordings must be uploaded by the audition deadline, which is 11:59:59 PM CST on the date as posted. Uploads will be closed at midnight on the night of the deadline date. The mp3 recordings contained in the system at the moment of the deadline will be the entries that are judged. All previously uploaded mp3 files will be disregarded. If multiple mp3 files are uploaded for a particular student, only the final uploaded file will be judged. The audition system will display on screen for the teacher the name of the last uploaded mp3 file for each student. Judges will not be able to see your file names.
- Audio audition files must be mp3 format.
- Your mp3 file names must not contain apostrophes. Only use letters, numbers, or dashes/underscores.
A non-refundable audition fee for each student must be sent by the established postmark deadlines. The audition fee must be sent by the posted deadline date.
The invoice for audition fees is located in the audition system. Since the invoice is computer-generated, all auditions must be uploaded before printing the invoice. Late entries will not be accepted! The mp3 upload process will be disabled at the time of the deadline. Judging begins immediately after the upload deadline.
