Performance Audio Recordings

For a student to participate in a KMEA All-State ensemble, the sponsoring teacher must be a member of KMEA. The final audition fee payment deadline will be the date of enforcement for membership.

Event Time Line
2017-2018 school year

Sep. 1, 2017 – Ready to receive new mp3 files
Oct. 2, 2017 – Online application completed (mp3 upload deadline)
Oct. 23, 2017 – Audition fees due, $6 per student (postmark deadline)
Oct. 23, 2017 – Blind audition of submissions completed
Oct. 30, 2017 – Late Audition fees due, $20 per student (postmark deadline)
Nov. 6, 2017 – Website notification of accepted singers
Feb. 23, 2018 – Performance at 2018 In-Service Workshop

The sponsoring teacher is advised to confirm the postmark on their fee payment if someone other than the teacher is posting the payment.

Festival Scores – Audition Management System

We will use Festival Scores to manage audition mp3 uploads and judging. Teachers may begin creating their Director account and adding in their student profiles now. The following Event Tag will be needed in order to get started with your audition uploads, once you have your school and student profiles in place.

Use the following Event Tag to activate this Audition Event in your Director account:

Teachers will…
— register their students.
— create their student profiles in Festival Scores.
— upload the mp3 audition recordings to Festival Scores.

Judges will…
— login and listen to the auditions.
— score the auditions using the established rubric.
— be able to listen to each entry as many times as needed.
— identify disqualifying factors found in the recordings.

Judges will not…
— know who they are listening to.
— have access to any identifying information for each entry.

The KMEA All-State Middle Level Choir Chair will…
— login and verify completion of judging.
— validate disqualifying factors as identified by judges.
— be responsible for taking questions regarding policy of the ML Choir
— generate the final roster for publication.
— notify teachers of selected students.

The KMEA Ensembles Manager will…
— receive audition and participation fees.

The KMEA Webmaster will…
— monitor data processes during the registration and judging timeline.
— be responsible for primary tech support.
— post the final roster online when it has been released.


***IMPORTANT NOTE:
Auditions submitted to BOTH KCDA Treble Choir and KMEA Middle Level Choir will be disqualified. Students choosing to audition must select, with assistance from their teacher, only one choir for which they will audition.
