FACT - Music education connects students and communities.

Music is an integral, vibrant part of life. The lifelong process of learning, performing, creating, and appreciating music brings meaning and richness to our heritage and culture. The Kansas Music Educators Association is an organization of music educators committed to the concept that the study of music is a positive influence in the lives of individuals and society as a whole.

In attendance at the 2010 KMEA In-Service Workshop, pictured here at the CMENC/Tri-M luncheon held for future music educators, are KMEA President Mike Quilling, U.S. Congressman Jerry Moran, MENC National President Barbara Geer, and KMEA President-Elect Craig Manteuffel.
March is Music In Our Schools Month! The theme for the 2010 Music In Our Schools Month is "Music! Just Imagine..." The World's Largest Concert (WLC) celebration is set for Thursday, March 11, 2010, at 12:00 pm CST. Also taking place that day is the 2010 edition of Arts Day at the Capitol.
KMEA is proud to announce the 2010 inductees into the Kansas Music Educators Association Hall of Fame. Nominees have a minimum of 30 years of service to music education. Teaching biographies are linked below. Please join KMEA in congratulating our newest Hall of Fame members.

The KMEA New Music Teacher Handbook is an online resource for new and veteran teachers alike. Everything from suggestions on how to start the year off right to a listing of important deadlines throughout the year are included. Resources for handbooks, lesson planning, curriculum assessment, rehearsal techniques, and classroom management can all be found in one easy-to-navigate place. The handbook is simply a clearinghouse of information invaluable to new music teachers in the state of Kansas. If veteran teachers find something valuable in it as well, all the better.
