Lori Supinie Scholarship Application 2024-25 |
- ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduates of a four-year Kansas university with a degree in Music Education
- Have signed a contract for their first teaching position at a PreK-12 school in Kansas
(not a temporary substitute teacher - students with permanent substitute music contracts may apply)
- Will teach music beginning immediately following the semester of graduation
(Students may apply for a waiver to this criterion and will receive the award at a later date
if the Awards Committee determines there is an acceptable reason for delay before accepting a teaching contract)
- must attend the NAfME Collegiate Luncheon during the In-Service Workshop
The Lori Supinie Scholarship is a $500 cash award for students who have graduated with a music education degree and who are starting their first teaching job.
The funds are intended to help students with personal expenses after college graduation and before receiving their first paycheck as a school music educator.
Applicants will apply for the scholarship before graduation and will be awarded the scholarship funds when they demonstrate college graduation and have signed a contract for their first teaching position.
The deadline for application is February 1, 2025, and the student will be named during the C-NAfME Luncheon at the In-Service Workshop following the application deadline.
Along with the printed application form, submit an essay of no more than 500 words describing why you wish to be a music educator.
Complete and return the next page by the postmark deadline, February 1, 2025.
