Robert E. Lee graduated from Halstead HS and holds
BME and MME degrees from Wichita State University.
He taught music in Goddard, Haven, Hutchinson, and
Little River for a total of 42 years in KS. Lee has played
percussion in Wichita Symphony Orchestra as well as
Hutchinson Municipal Band, Wichita Musician's
Association Concert Band, Newton Mid-KS Orchestra,
Music Theatre of Wichita, and Kansas Winds. During
his teaching career Bob spent 25 years on staff of KS
Lions Bands around the world. He also served as
percussion instructor and conductor of Bronze Band at
High Plains Band Camp at Fort Hays State University.
He served as President and District Band Chair of
KMEA South Central District. In 1991-1993 he was
President of KMEA. He has also served as Advocacy
Chair. As a member of Kansas Citizens for the Arts he
has served as Chair, Co-Chair, Recording Secretary,
and Music Coordinator for the "Arts Day at the Capitol."
He is a Past President and Executive Secretary of the
Iota Chapter (Kansas) of Phi Beta Mu International
Bandmaster Fraternity. Lee is a life member of Kappa
Kappa Psi National Band Fraternity and NEA. He
served as president of Haven Teachers Association. He
has been an adjudicator and clinician throughout KS
and OK. In 1997 KBA and Phi Beta Mu recognized him
with "Outstanding Bandmaster Award." In June of 2005
he was inducted into Kansas Teachers Hall of Fame
located in Dodge City.
